I don’t remember exactly when or why I decided I wanted to re-design the site, but over the last couple of weeks I’ve been trying some new html and css ‘stuff’ and came up with what you see now.
Behind the scenes the HTML is much cleaner and super-standards compliant. I converted to the XHTML 1.0 STRICT dtd (previously I was using Transitional because I didn’t really know what I was doing), which I’m very happy I was able to pull off. It is, however, going to take a lot of discipline to stop using the <center> tag, but I think I’ll be better off without it.
There are a few things that still don’t look quite right (like most of the pages that the navigation bar to your right takes you to), but I should have those cleaned up within the next couple of days. I was just really eager to get the new design live.
I’ll probably also do some colour changes since I’m not too happy with this depressing grey colour I’ve chosen for the background which makes my banner logo look like it was overcast when the photo was taken (which, by the way, was taken at the Liftlock Golf Club in Peterborough, Ontario in the Summer of 2006).
